Thorbjørn in his studio
Texture experiments with pigments and metal leaf
Andersen is producing an artwork measuring almost four meters in width by one meter in height for the ground floor of South Place Hotel in the City of London. The artwork will be made up of several triangular ‘reverse paintings’. Using gold, silver and metal-leaf, as well as pigments and acrylic resin, the artist is painting directly onto laser cut glass pieces. The paintings will then be laid in bespoke oak frames.
Andersen studied at an MA in Painting at the Slade School of Art, London, as well as the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art. He is interested in abstraction, geometry and collage, creating systematic two and three-dimensional works that explore possibilities within the expanded field of painting.
The installation is due to be unveiled later this month.
